Here is a very cool piece that is seldom seen given the formation, a skull in the matrix of a bear dog (Daphoenus sp.) that came out of Nebraska. Typically, in the Brule Formation/White River where this came out of you will see hundreds and hundreds of oreodont skulls found here and offered before you see a single Bear Dog. This awesome creature derived its name from having both a mix of dog and bear-like characteristics. This is a nicely prepared upper skull on a matrix that stands on its own. Elements of the lower jaw and one of the upper canines from the same site have been composited back onto the matrix. Heres your opportunity to fill your mammal/white river collection with something unique to stand out amongst your countless oreodont skulls that I am sure many of you collectors of this material have in spades.
