The cretaceous Pierre Shale of Fall River County, South Dakota where this piece was found is very well known for its invertebrate material but vertebrate material from this site is rarely found/offered in comparison. It is difficult to find/prep out of its hard stone matrix. This piece is all natural and just has a catalog on it from an old museum/collection.
