This is a beautiful white fossil Pectin Scallop display piece from the early Miocene deposits of the Lacoste Quarry, Vaucluse, France. This is a rare opportunity to own a unique and beautiful display piece for your collection from a local that is rarely offered and usually only seen in clusters at high end places for high end prices. The scallop itself measures around 5x5 inches and the previous owner has placed three felt dots on the bottom from a previous display that are out of sight when on display. Piece is fragile in areas of the surrounding matrix, so it must be handled with care.
