This is a huge close to 8 inches range fossil Spinosaurus tooth from the Kem Kem Basin in Morocco and is Late Cretaceous in age, approximately 95 million years old. Has some repair fill work on a small section wrapping around the blade below the tip. The last buyer managed to recklessly handle and break the fossil so there is one modern repair but thankfully ot fixed back fine and did not detract much from the original look of the tooth and blends rather well, but as a result I will be selling this specimen at a bargain price for the size permanently. The root is actually real but just coated/fixed in most areas of the root by the kem kem dirt/glue mix commonly used by diggers to stabilize the fragile areas to keep the piece in tact. (Do not attempt to clean this off as the specimen will be damaged due to the mix, I have tried this in the past with little success). Authentic Spinosaurus teeth in this size range are very hard to come by now as many of the few that do have fake carved roots, fabricated roots, or are composited. Without actual experience in the field and the specimen in hand a majority of collectors cannot tell apart real/faked specimens. If not for repair work done on this tooth, it would easily be a well over $1,000+ tooth at minimum. This is one of the most affordable opportunities on the web to own an authentic huge rooted theropod tooth of this size range, also potentially the largest at that.
